Zoom, move, and click on a dot on the map to see photos from my trip to Sri Lanka. The lighter the dot the more recent the photo.
About: I used D3 for the interactivity and to tie everything together. The map is the simple, premade Dark style map from Mapbox.com with one less topographical layer to remove some clutter. D3plus helps wrap the text in the lower left. The photos were taken with a Canon Rebel SL1 (except for in Arugam Bay and Nuwara Eliya because I left my camera battery in a hotel) . To add a new dot to the map and photo to the page I edit a .csv file by writing the longitude and latitude, the name of the photo file, the order, and the text seen in the lower left of the page. Then I upload the photos and .csv file to the webpage’s file manager and let D3 update the text, photo, and map. This video by Ian Johnson taught me how to do the hard bits.
